The guest list is probably the most daunting task we have encountered since we began planning this wedding! We have numerous friends from college, plus our old faithfuls from back home, not to mention workmates and church family. Although we are expecting between 200-250 to attend, our guest list is compiled of almost twice as many people. We will be sending out a little under 200 invitations to cover the massive quantities of friends we’ve accumulated over the years!
Scarier than the cost of postage itself is the path leading to it. Being 1,300 miles away from my key wedding planner (a.k.a. Mom) makes things really hard! Thankfully, we have a go-between: Wedding Assistant… a wedding planning software with the guest list at its core. It is free to try, but I highly recommend the full version. We are using it to write, edit, and eventually finish the massive guest list, while communicating changes or updates to each other when needed. Right now, I’m hunting for addresses while Mom prepares to mail Save the Date cards.
I still feel like there is so much to do to complete the guest list, but I’m sure in reality it’s practically finished! (cough, cough) It’s turning out to be more time consuming than finding a wedding dress. Think about it; your wedding dress doesn’t spontaneously grow a foot every time you remember a long-lost cousin… but the bloated monster guest list might! The good thing about that is, it’s good to know we have been blessed with so many loving friends. =)
